Trends To Watch Out For This Year (2015)

As with every new year, trends come and go, and it'd be interesting to find out which trends to look out for this year.

But first let's have a quick scan at what 2014 had to offer us, fashion wise.

Last year 2014, we noticed trends such as crop tops, sheer, pleated skirts, culottes, knuckle rings, pearls, pelvages, boyfriend jeans, high-lows, matching sets, and so on, infiltrated our female wardrobes;

Matching sets
More after the cut

Jewelries such as knuckle rings

Culottes (wide legged pants)

Pelvages

High-Low

And for the guys, trends such as printed blazers, floral suits, double breasted blazers, mesh tops, etc, rocked your wardrobes; Right?

High rise or Rolled Pants

Printed blazers/Printed jackets

Double breasted blazers

But this year 2015, these are some of the trends/looks we should look out for, that our wardrobes are going to be updated with. And yes, some 2014 trends have been carried over into this year too.

So for the ladies;

  • Definitely more culottes

  • Shirt Dresses

  • Gingham; graphic patterns on fabrics

  • Kimonos

  • One shoulder cuts

  • Colours; different shades of white paired together, blue and white, black and white, military green,yellow (Find the right shade of yellow that complements your undertone)

  • Polo style shirts

Now for the guys, (yes there's always something for you on the blog); these are some of the trends you should look out for this year.

  • Definitely a lot of red

  • Florals; According to Fashionbeans, "To incorporate this trend into your own wardrobe, remember to make your floral printed piece the focal point of your look, and frame it with less attention-grabbing neutrals"

  • Green and Blue; The key to carrying off this pairing is to limit the number of other colours you add to the mix. Dark neutrals like brown and black don’t work well with bold blue and green combos, so try slate grey and white to tie it all together. (FashionBeans)
  • Double Denim; check out the post I did on that HERE
  • Stripes: As long as you remember ---> Horizontal stripes tend to make you look wider, while vertical stripes draw the eye down quickly, giving the illusion of length/height, you'd be able to easily figure which part of your body you should put horizontal/vertical striped clothing's.

Do remember that some 2014 trends moved into 2015 too like I mentioned above, which I believe will still trend this year. E.g dungarees, crop tops, High-Low outfits, (you can list yours too in the comment section)...

So which of the trends do you love or hate?
Which trend do you not want to see this year?
Let me know in the comments section.

  1. Nice post article. My thoughts; For me I don't think pelvages were a trend, throughout last year I only saw one crazy kardashian wearing it Lol. In regards to this year, the shirt top and Kimono look like very cool and edgy outfits for the ladies, would love to see that take off. As a guy I'm not to keen on the florals.
