Making a Fashion Statement With Shoes!

Fashion in general is sophisticated, classic and comfortable.  

What I love most about fashion is the fact that it gives you the opportunity to express yourself; you dress for yourself and no-one else because whatever you wear, good or bad is bound to attract criticisms from the public.  

Because fashion is all about style and creativity, there are different accessories with which you can express your style and make a fashion statement with.  It could be Shoes, Bags, Costume Jewellery, Scarf, Sunglasses, Hat, Coloured Socks, Snoods and lots more.  

For example, Victoria Beckham is known for her over-sized sun glasses and skinny jeans, Khloe Khardasian is known for collecting shoes, Mercy Aigbe Gentry is known for her unique African styles, shoes and dresses, the beautiful slim Ghanian actress Yvonne Nelson is known for her love for shoes, and she is always simple in her casual outfits and sure knows how to make a fashion statement anytime, any day.

Essentially, good shoes make a simple outfit ooze out elegance, shoes are your identity. 

There are three things with shoes:

-          Buying quality shoes  

-          Maintenance

-          Matching it to an outfit

Buying quality shoes

One unique thing about shoes is that they are capable of bringing out the best in people.  

Pair a lovely shoe with any outfit and there is always a word to compliment it “FABULOUS”. The problem most people have is that they find it difficult buying quality shoes,but the truth is; good quality ones last much longer that the cheap and poorly made ones.  Therefore, always endeavour to spend your money on something that can give you a return on your investment. Trust me you will never regret you did.

When I say quality shoes, lots of them are available.  It could be Christian Louboutin, Anne Michelle, Chloe, Atmosphere, American Eagle and lots more.

Yeah! Yeah!! Yeah!!! I know what you are going to say, “some of these names are top designers and also pretty much expensive but I assure you they are worth buying and having as part of your collections.  Funny enough, I am still saving to get my own pair of Christian Louboutin and Giuseppe Zanotti shoes [lol] can’t help it, I love their shoes – smiles !!!!.

Maintaining shoes

Some people do not know how to maintain their shoes, no matter how expensive they are or whether the shoes are from the best designers.  If these shoes are poorly maintained, there is every tendency that they would easily wear out and then become huge losses to the owner.  

Here are some tips to help you maintain your shoes:

• Keep your shoes in an airy place
• If you must keep them in a closed wardrobe, ensure there is an air conditioner in the room because leather and heat do not go together.
• Make sure you clean your shoes after wearing them
• Do not place or heap your shoes on one another;This spoils shoes easily.
• Never wear a wet shoe, trust me, you won’t find the smell funny at all.
• Always "air" your shoes once you notice they are wet – water and shoes are not the best of friends at all.

How to match shoes with an outfit

Now, this is where the main work/care is.  There are people who buy quality shoes, maintain them very well but still do not know how to match them with outfits to get that fabulous look.
