Creative Directors of the Greta Constantine collection, Kirk Pickersgill and Stephen Wong, who are based in Toronto but originally from Jamaica, occasionally fuse a little of the Island's carefree spirit into their Greta Constantine collections, and their Resort 2020 is one proof of the luxury feel.
“You can’t help but feel joyous when you look at these colors,” Wong said at the Soho penthouse where they held a presentation/cocktail hour. “It just puts you in a good mood.” Indeed, the cheerful paletteof the colleection, has an absolute uplifting effect.
Pickersgill and Wong infused neutrals into the collection, but bold color was the collection’s focus. They had fun working in a variety of textures.
Textures including: transparent organdy and silk gazar which was featured prominently in the collection.
The collection has outfits ranging from, cocktail dresses, culottes, wide leg trousers, jumpsuits, and a recurring element of ruffles. The duo in this collection accented bodices and hemlines, providing volume and adding visual interest to monochromatic looks.
Those who love frills and vibrancy will find plenty to enjoy from this resort collection, as the idea of authentic Jamaican resortwear is appealing.
